Byom - Smart Testing app for Covid19
Situation
In the year 2020, which was uncertain times at the start of the pandemic. I was part of the team that took one step ahead to fight the COVID-19 pandemic by developing an android application named BYOM Smart Testing app, which guides the user to perform pool testing for COVID-19 using the Tapestry pooling scheme developed by IITB researchers
Design Challenges
There was very little understanding of how the testing works. So designing the flow for lab technician was even more challenging. The idea was to crate an app that would be as close to the real life testing behaviour of a lab technician.
Process
The Byom app was based on an algorithm which helped determine the positivity of a sample. The role of the app was to help the technician pipette the sample in the correct tray, so that the correct tray, so testing can be done using the algorithm. The app was the guide to the usage of the machine.
